How to Build a Playhouse

In the end Frannie realises that the glamour and romance Michael has to offer is not what she wants and she seeks out Calvin who has returned to New York and his experimental jazz band that incorporates 'found instruments'. It might actually be a smart, logical step for you and your partner, Fisher explains. The only time you might worry is if you've been playing house for a while and you're ready for an even bigger commitment. In that case, you might want to start an honest conversation about what you really want. According to Pricilla Martinez, a life coach at Blush Online Life Coaching, playing house for too long might mean your partner might be afraid of commitment. "They purposely end up leaving things pretty open and vague, but anyone who's interested [in commitment] will make the plans, and will talk about the future in more than just the next weekend," Martinez told Elite Daily.

Buying a precut playhouse kit can also speed up the process, but expect to pay extra for the convenience. Now you can go to town adding some personal touches to encourage imaginative play. You could consider adding waterproof flooring or even a patterned outdoor rug. Installing a play kitchen or investing in some kid-sized outdoor furniture will make your DIY playhouse as close to the real thing as possible.

If you intend to build a more ambitious structure with a frame and paneled walls, expect the project to take significantly longer. Adding extra features like a swing, slide, deck or doors and windows will all add to the building time. Overall, it's best to set aside a couple of weekends for building an outdoor playhouse from scratch. The following instructions explain how to build a playhouse out of reclaimed, heat-treated pallets. It's a simple project that you can complete in a weekend, even if you don’t have any carpentry experience.

These experiences elevate The Bunny Hive from a mere play space to a sanctuary where parents can recharge while their children engage in enriching activities. This unique value proposition is what makes The Bunny Hive an attractive investment opportunity. On the other hand, for some couples playing house might mean that there's a fear or mistrust going on that makes it feel impossible to commit, Fisher says. "This may be motivated by fear of marital commitment or having negative experiences with previous commitments," he explains.

Here, parents, grandparents, and nannies can all bring children to participate in a diverse range of activities. From art and music to sensory play and culinary classes, there's something for everyone. This inclusive model ensures that no matter where you are, you can enjoy a familiar, comforting environment, much like members of Soho House enjoy familiar comforts across global locations. If you have small kids who like to roll and crawl around on the floor, a base means that they can play outside in any weather without ending up caked in mud and grass. Consider proximity to other buildings and flowerbeds to ensure that your garden layout remains practical. Ensure that you allow enough space between the DIY playhouse and your walls and fences so that there aren't any tight spaces for little ones to get stuck.

However, there are a couple of good reasons for including a playhouse base. It's generally not recommended to use softwood to build a wooden playhouse because it doesn't wear well outdoors. However, you can use softwood to build the internal frame as long as you build a waterproof outer structure around it. If you want a more enclosed structure, you can add an extra pallet at the front to create a narrower doorway. Imagine walking into a space where the elegant atmosphere immediately hits you with music playing, stylish brands lining the shelves, and where the who's who is gathering.

While you could shell out for a premade playhouse, the costs for premium models can be eye-watering. Fortunately, it's reasonably easy and enjoyable to make a DIY playhouse out of inexpensive materials. This might sound like an introduction to Soho House, the chic social club known globally for its exclusive, elegant ambiance and a gathering spot for the elite. Yet, this description aptly fits The Bunny Hive, a burgeoning network of children's clubs quickly earning the nickname "Soho House for kids." But playing house when you have a roommate (or several roommates) is a different story. If you want to play house with your SO, but have roomies, then you should discuss boundaries with your roomies so no one feels uncomfortable.

Kids play house or role play to make sense of the world around them and explore their environment. If you're playing house with a toddler, set out props in a play space to spur their imagination. Once your child is a little older, let them come up with the stories and direct the play. Building your playhouse on a base helps guard against water infiltration, creating a handy space for storing toys and other outdoor equipment when your kids aren't using it. A playhouse built directly onto the ground will get wet and muddy inside when it rains.

Together, those things make it super easy for any hiring manager to see your qualifications and fit for a role. For the majority of job-seekers, the best resume format in 2024 is the reverse-chronological resume format. AI resume builders go beyond mere formatting; they scrutinize specific resume keywords, identify industry-specific trends, and even provide insights on how to boost your resume's impact. It's like having R2-D2 as your co-pilot, ensuring your resume easily navigates the dangerous asteroid belt of job-seeking. Employers want to see resumes that are easy-to-read and quickly convey the information they are looking for. While resume templates are a useful tool for creating a professional application, recruiters will not favor copy-paste resumes that have not been customized for the job description.

Depending on the scheme you use, you can up or lower the “drama” level. You can go for a minimalistic look and use pastel colors, or make your resume pop with some purple and pink tones just like Sneha Sur Roy did. The easiest, most efficient way to create a resume is through a resume builder.

Entry Level UX Designer

It’s possible you have unique education experience, such as taking an online course or certification. If you did this specifically as a way to boost yourself within your industry, definitely include it. Again, list everything more or less reverse chronologically—so a grad school degree would go above an undergrad degree, and a more recent relevant online course would go above that. If you’re looking to move for a job, you may choose to leave out your address or write “open to relocating” to better your chances of getting an interview. If you want to add some drama to your resume, but don’t want to step out of the lines too much, you can go for a simple, minimalist resume and break the contrast with one accent color.

Experiment With Fonts

On this platform, you not only have access to many options, but you get guidance on what to choose and why. When the work experience is less than 5 years, the other components such as languages, projects, volunteering experiences, hobbies etc, make a huge difference. For over 10 years now, I've been on both sides of the fence, career counseling, and recruitment, and let me tell you, the writer's block hits hard when it comes to drafting your resume.

In this design, you can change the icons and their colors to add a more personalized touch. Nanica is one of the most recommended entry-level resume designs. With an easily readable resume profile, this design is universally loved by recruiters. Academics also enjoy using this design for a resume, thanks to its crystal-clear, tidy look.

You can also inject a little bit of your personality into the resume without pulling the reader’s attention away from the important information as well. Firstly, one thing this company is not best at is website design. A single paragraph was reused five times in short succession. The next thing that caught my eye was that the only social media they link to is TikTok. We could play Minesweeper with this amount of red flags.

To give you some context as to how yours might turn out, here are three examples of different kinds of resumes. Before you start typing one single thing, you have to decide what you want the overall resume to look like. Check out the example above by Corinne Garcia for the nice use of fonts. Yep, 7 seconds is all it takes for them to decide if they’re going to reject the resume and never look at it again, or give it a deeper look.

Here’s another Career Reload template that takes advantage of ATS-friendly design elements to give you something a little more unique. But make sure to swap out the “Career Objective” for a “Summary” section (or just get rid of it entirely). This is important because ATS software is typically unable to read text within images or scan infographics. For example, some of the skills required for the program director gig mentioned above may include interpersonal skills, budget management, and project management. Now, you probably want to know what the optimal format is for YOUR resume. Good for university students, recent graduates, and entry-level professionals.

The design above adds a new dimension to the resume sections by making them look folded. Your resume header is the first thing that a recruiter looks at during those 7 seconds of skimming, so it’s important that you have a header that pops. You can do that by using a color that contrasts with the rest of the resume, like in the design above. These more stylized templates require the Adobe suite to edit, so they’re not for everyone. Just make sure you save your final resume as a PDF so the ATS can still read it. This template puts less emphasis on your formal work experience, and plays up your accomplishments, skills, and strengths—ideal for someone who is trying to switch careers.

This template places the most emphasis on the personal summary at the top and keeps the job experience straightforward in the body. Just be sure to tweak the section headings to common ones for your industry. If you want columns, this template includes them in a way that can still be read by an ATS. Just be sure to move your name and contact info out of the text box it’s currently in (where it might get missed or garbled by the ATS) and into the body of the resume. You can customize your resume directly in your web browser and download it as a PDF, Word, or HTML file. Not all of Super Resume’s templates are ATS-friendly (some include graphics and columns), but you can also check out “Resume Template 5” and “Resume Template 6” for more options.

16 Free Backyard Playhouse Plans for Kids

However, if you're a confident woodworker, there are plenty of free playhouse plans available on the internet with more ambitious designs, including elevated playhouses with slides and swings attached. The most commonly used material for playhouses is pressure-treated wood as it's durable and can withstand the elements. Pre-2003, the pressure-treating process often used chemicals that could pose a danger to children. The first step to building a kids' playhouse is constructing a raised floor. Start by laying two of your pallets side-by-side on the ground and cover them with one of the OSD or plywood sheets.

How to Play House

If your roommates aren't comfortable with them spending all their time at your place, consider staying at your partner's house instead, or moving in together if you feel like you're ready. Playing house isn't just something that you did with your stuffed animals when you were a kid. When you're in a romantic relationship, you might find yourself setting up IRL tea parties with the person you love, except it's every day and it's not tea parties. It's cooking together and cuddling and spending every moment by your SO's side. Playing house can look different for every couple, but according to a psychologist, what it really means when couples play house has an interesting psychological meaning, and it could tell you more about your relationship. If you use the instructions above, you can complete the project in a day with a helper or two.

The crowds also cheered when someone inside the Washington Hilton – where the dinner has been held for decades – unfurled a Palestinian flag from a top-floor hotel window. However, Biden, who attended Saturday’s event in Washington, DC and delivered a 10-minute speech, made no mention of the war in Gaza or the grave humanitarian crisis there. In a late night post to Truth Social after the festivities concluded on Saturday evening, the former president teed off about the dinner’s two main speakers — Jost and President Joe Biden. "Playing house often means couples want to live as an exclusive couple without the commitment of marriage," Dr. Wyatt Fisher, licensed psychologist and marriage counselor, tells Elite Daily. Playing house is totally healthy, Fisher says, and could actually be a great way for you and your partner to try out what marriage or a bigger commitment looks like without taking the legal plunge. There's no structural reason why you can't build a playhouse directly on the ground.

What used to be a gentlemanly roast of the president has become some obnoxious party for the media to pat itself on the back while pretending to hold a president they literally carry water for every day, accountable. The New York Jets selected Penn State football offensive tackle Olu Fashanu with the No. 11 pick in the 2024 NFL draft. Fashanu played three seasons with the Nittany Lions, earning back-to-back All-America honors. The impressive student in supply chain and information systems was a 2023 finalist for the Walter Campbell Trophy, honoring the top football scholar-athlete in the nation. The Bunny Hive's rapid expansion, from its initial plans to open three studios to now projecting 24 in its first year of franchising, is a testament to its resonance with modern families. Its selective process, accepting only 30% of franchise applicants, ensures that each new location upholds the brand's principles—principles that Soho House also upholds to ensure exclusivity and quality.

Create a roof by nailing the second OSD or plywood sheet to the top of the playhouse. You can screw a corrugated iron or tin sheet over the top of the wood sheet for a more durable finish. If you want an angled roof, screw some wood blocks to the front two corners before adding the roof.

‘My Vice President Actually Endorses Me’: Biden Kicks Off WHCD Speech With Slew Of Trump Burns And New Trump Nickname

Since Israel’s war on Gaza began last October, the Israeli military has killed 142 media workers and arrested at least 40 Palestinian journalists, according to the Government Media Office in Gaza. While most pallets are safe to use, it's best to look for heat-treated pallets carrying the IPPC logo. Discard any pallets that are blue or carry an MB (methyl bromide) stamp, as they may have been treated with chemicals you wouldn't want your kids playing near. Check each pallet carefully for nails and sharp edges that could cause injuries. A playhouse makes a lovely addition to a family backyard and is sure to keep young children entertained for many happy hours.

It's significantly more expensive, but it can look lovely if you have a generous budget. Next, place two pallets upright along the long back edge of the floor and secure them with angle brackets on the inside. Place one pallet on each of the shorter edges, screwing them to the floor and the adjacent walls with more angle brackets. While attending the 2011 dinner, he was famously roasted by former President Barack Obama. That incident was thought by many to have helped Trump decide to run for president in 2016.

This commitment to quality and exclusivity is what sets The Bunny Hive on a path to sustainable growth. “We are seeing journalists in Gaza continuing to be, not just killed, but detained, tortured, and even their families killed,” he said. His speech remained focused on what he believes is at stake this election, speaking about how another Trump administration would be more harmful to the country than his first term. In his speech, Biden offered a toast for “press freedom and democracy around the world”, but failed to speak about the suffering in Gaza. He spent most of his address poking fun at his main rival in this year’s presidential race, Donald Trump, as well as the two men’s advanced age. The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has said 2023 was the deadliest year for those in the profession in a decade, with some 75 percent of those killed worldwide being Palestinians reporting on the war in Gaza.

If you're handy with a paintbrush, you could think about creating a themed playhouse based on your kids' favorite TV show or movie. The RetreatLike some other lines, Celebrity has their own “resort within a resort” that features higher-end rooms. Along with nice rooms is a lounge area and outdoor pool/sundeck that is only available to these guests.

Celebrity Cruises Just Delivered Its Newest Ship, Which Sails the Caribbean This Winter — and I Was the First to See It

Passengers can make reservations in any of the 4 MDRs if they know they want to eat at a specific restaurant and dinner time, or they can simply show up and enjoy dinner on their own time. The 3300-passenger ship Celebrity Ascent is the 4th newbuild by "Project Edge" (ship class). These new ships are bigger than Millennium-class but smaller than Solstice-class. The company advertised "small-ship itineraries with large-ship amenities", destination-rich experiences, iconic maritime architecture. Our luxurious outdoor area rivals any high-end resort, featuring a spacious lounge area, plush, stylish furniture and an inviting pool and hot tub.

Introducing our newest award-winning resort at sea, Celebrity AscentSM, the fourth and most innovative ship in our highly awarded Edge® Series. Celebrity Ascent features 32 distinctive restaurants, bars, and lounges, including the newly designed Le Voyage by Chef Daniel Boulud. With more luxury to love, Celebrity Ascent℠ extends your vacation bliss right on board. The ship’s outward-facing design and expanded outdoor spaces are perfect for enjoying the ever-changing views.

And while the price tag is generally higher than other mass market lines, in our opinion it would be worth it. The ship’s theater is simply a technological marvel that you have to see. The shows that are on board also take full advantage of the technology to offer something to see that’s stunning. It’s hard to overstate just how nice Celebrity Ascent is unless you’ve sailed it or one of its sister ships (which are said to be similar). While pictures don’t do it justice, we have highlighted some spots with details about what to expect and some images to give you an idea.

The entertainment aboard Ascent raises the bar on entertainment to even greater heights. With hand-picked, top-class artists and musicians from all over the world, we have two separate casts onboard to delight our audiences in various venues and unexpected moments throughout the cruise. Experience a majestic, open, three-story venue inspired by the piazzas of Italy and the invigorating energy of everyone coming together to savor a taste of the good life. Home to our incredible specialty restaurants, along with our popular Martini Bar, Café al Bacio, and Craft Social Bar. Exclusive to guests of The Retreat, including a private restaurant, sundeck, lounge & more.

Celebrity says it will cost around $200 - $350 for the private event. Brand new to Celebrity, the Annex is a private room you can rent for your family to enjoy. It's multi-purpose, and allows you to customize the entertainment to your needs. If you loved the martini bar before, the new one is expanded is fully circular too.

EDGE-Class ships also have Celebrity fleet's most technologically advanced Theater Lounge - spanning 3 floors/decks. Here are held fleet's largest number of production shows, with the largest number of performing crew on any premium-brand ship. Virtual Concierge app allows booking dinner and spa reservations, drinks ordering, room service, and other services. Smartphone sensors are used to track passengers on the ship in order to improve services based on their location.

And while we know that a cruise line like Celebrity is going to have some fancier dining, our personal tastes are fairly basic. Having a few more “comfort food” items easily available would have been nice, but this was far from a deal breaker. It simply felt modern, with lots of nice touches like calm music and great art pieces around the ship. In addition there are stage segments that rise and fall, a spot in the center of the ceiling where acrobats drop and swing, lights extraordinaire and so much more.

And embark on a culinary journey through an unrivaled collection of restaurants, bars, and lounges. Grand PlazaThe spot to be in the evening, the Grand Plaza is a center atrium on the ship. There’s seating around the edge, bartenders that do fancy acrobatics while they mix drinks, restaurants lining the decks on both sides, and a massive light fixture in the middle. The lounge has an outward-facing design and combines a signature gastronomic experience (light lunch, 5-course dinner, wine tastings) with live performances, daily lectures, promo events.

Whether you cruise multiple times per year or you're new to cruising, the goal of Royal Caribbean Blog is for it to be a useful resource for keeping up to date with what's new and exciting with Royal Caribbean. Started in 2010, Royal Caribbean Blog offers daily coverage of news and information related to the Royal Caribbean cruise line along with other relevant topics of cruising, such as entertainment, news, photo updates and more. The Retreat seating encompasses multiple decks, and has plenty of quiet nooks and crannies. The extra space really makes it feel like a destination, rather than another bar. I love how much more seating there is, and how the bar doesn't dominate the entire space. The cost depends if you're renting it on a sea day or port day, and which private event theme you pick.

Before we celebrated Celebrity Ascent's delivery, we were treated to a special steel-cutting ceremony for the next Edge-class ship, Celebrity Xcel, due to be delivered in 2025. That ship will have the first tri-fuel engines in the Royal Caribbean Group fleet. "These engines will allow us to burn traditional fuels as well as methanol," Liberty said.

Palo Disney Cruise: is it worth it for brunch?

palo disney cruise

I confess, we didn’t notice until after we ordered it that this dish is not the same as the one included in the prix fixe menu. They are similar, but this one has a pour of aged balsamic vinegar where the prix fixe version comes with a small bed of arugula instead. The mozzarella was soft and creamy, easy to portion out and pile onto the tomato to get a complete bite. Palo graces several Disney Cruise Line ships, each offering its unique touch to the dining experience. You can find Palo on Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, and Disney Fantasy.

These Are the BEST Times to Book Your Disney Cruise

Its all-you-can-eat brunch and prix fixe dinner each cost $50 (before drinks and gratuities). You may recall, back in April, the cruise line announced a price increase at Palo the adult only restaurants aboard the ships. Palo experiences were increased $5 with the price increase effective as soon as the ships resume sailing.

Hello, I'm Alison a Disney Cruise and Travel Blogger with over 40 cruises and more than 30 years of Disney travel experience. I share tips, reviews and videos so that you can have the best Disney travel experience. I don’t want to miss that experience or spend time away from the servers. Your server will bring the selection around for you to choose what you want.

This ensures that you’ll have the full experience of your initial dining rotation (it’s our understanding that the Animator’s Palate show only occurs the first time you dine there). If you’re going on a short cruise, book it on a night when the Pirates party is not occurring. When we got on-board and received our dining rotation card, we noticed that we were assigned Animator’s Palate on our Palo night.

If you are traveling with kids, you will need to make sure they are happy in the kids’ club (or are otherwise occupied) during brunch time. A splurge like this should be enjoyed at a leisurely pace, so if you are in a rush or are worried about your kids, brunch at Palo may not be worth it. In addition to dinner, Palo also offers a separate brunch, which is the more affordable option of the two adult-only dining venues, and the food is delicious while the ambiance is elegant. First things first, I have typically received a complimentary glass of sparkling wine at brunch and a post-meal sip of lemoncello at dinner. If that’s all you want in the way of alcohol at your meal, then you won’t have any additional fees. Although you can link the reservations of several staterooms, each stateroom can only make adult dining reservations according the highest Castaway Club level of someone booked into that room.

On four-night or longer sailings, Remy also offers brunch and a dessert event, which are $80 and $65, respectively. Brunch at Remy is prix fixe with dishes like lobster cannelloni and sea bass, plus a glass of Champagne and a dessert. Those with a sweet tooth will want to try the dessert service where a five-course dessert menu is served with coffee.

Yes, reservations are highlight recommended for all of the adults-only specialty restaurants fleetwide. Reservations can be made online as early as 123 days prior to your embarkation day, depending on your level within Disney's loyalty program called Castaway Club. Brunch starts with a glass of prosecco or a mimosa, then your choice of antipasti plates. I suggest taking a few people with you to brunch so you can try a few of the dishes on the menu, though one not to miss is the chicken Parmesan that's served with risotto. Another favorite is the lasagna, which is the perfect size for everyone to get a few bites before moving on to something else.

Silver Castaway Club members (completed at least 1 DCL sailing) may make reservations 90 days in advance. New DCL cruisers may make reservations 75 days in advance. The size of the dining rooms is a bit different on the smaller ships (Magic/Wonder) than the larger ships (Dream/Fantasy). And there are some decor elements that vary slightly, but for the most part Palo is identical on all four of the current Disney Cruise Line ships. The menus are the same and the service is fabulous throughout the line. Ninety minutes, a decadent bread basket, five ordered plates and a dessert later, it was time to rejoin my kids.

I said goodbye (for now) to this special experience on the ship with two certain truths. And second, I had certainly gotten more than $50 worth out of this meal. The parmesan-crusted chicken breast with its tomato-basil sauce and mozzarella cheese was unlawfully flavorful and delicious and also worth sampling no matter the time of day. Would you be surprised if I told you one of my favorite fancy meals on earth is only $50 per person?

The restaurant is divided into two dining rooms named after Walt and his brother Roy, though both serve the same menu, which celebrates California cuisine. My favorite dishes include the seared tuna appetizer, grilled filet entree and the churros with caramel dipping sauce. This is a great spot for a steakhouse date night, too, so if you have kids, drop them off in the kids club and enjoy a meal to yourself without having to pay extra for Palo Steakhouse. Additional items beyond the prix fixe menu may be added at an additional charge.

On some sailings, there are additional performance of the main shows during the afternoon. Or you might not care about missing a random ventriloquist that happens to be performing. The days that you can book Palo will be noted on the DCL website in the “My Plans” section, after you’ve paid in full and are at your Castaway Club booking date. I slightly prefer dinner, but everyone else in my family is head over heals for brunch. I have no idea why I order any thing from the menu because I could go back to the buffet half a dozen times and still find more yumminess to sample.

There is also a dress code; men need dress pants or slacks and a collared shirt, women need a dress, or skirt or pants with a blouse. Jeans can also be worn if they are in good condition, but flip-flops and tennis shoes are not permitted. Finally, we ended things off with the Buttermilk Panna Cotta Pot. This had strawberry popping pearls and pistachio crumble. We have to give a lot of points to this dessert on presentation alone. The bright colors and chocolate details on top made it very visually appealing.

It had a has a sharp, complex fruity/nutty taste together with a strong savory flavor and was smooth. This lovely mouthful was a complex little creamy mushroom soup. The toasted gnocchi was perfect, a small bite that wasn’t excessively doughy as gnocchi can be sometimes. It was so light that it actually would have been easy to mistake for a crouton if you weren’t paying attention. It was a wonderful choice after having such a heavy meal. It tasted so fresh and the popping pearls provided a fun sensory experience.

With Disney Palo Brunch there will be either sparkling wine or a Mimosa included in the cost. In my experience, there is a pretty wide range of interpretations of this Palo dress code, but most people are dressed in what would be described as “smart casual”. Make sure that you go to the designated location as soon as you get on board to make the reservations that you want. Quite often when you try and book Palo online you will be told that there are no reservations available.

The price increase was to $45 for both Palo Brunch and Dinner. As you would expect, guests at Palo Dinner tend to be more formally dressed than at Palo Brunch. However, Disney does still ask that you follow a more dress code in Palo, albeit a pretty relaxed one. You can make one Palo Brunch and one Palo Dinner reservation online prior to your cruise. Here we will look at the Palo Brunch and Dinner menus and pictures to help you decide which is the best dining option for you. Additionally, Platinum- and Pearl-level Castaway Club members get one free dinner at Palo Steakhouse per sailing to share with everyone in their cabin.

Brunch at Palo is one of my favorite things to do on Disney Cruise Line, and the meal service is offered on all ships on most sea days. If you don't have a sea day on your itinerary, brunch might be served on a port day. On a recent cruise, I made a reservation for brunch at Palo when the ship was docked in Nassau, Bahamas.

Charlotte Amalie St Thomas Cruise Port: A Complete Guide For Visitors

cruise port st thomas

Magens Bay is an ideal beach for swimming and is most recommended when traveling with kids because of its calm waters. Snorkeling is also possible, however, the marine life right there is not the best due to the beach’s sandy bottom. A sightseeing tour of the island will take you to the Mountain Top, Drakes Seat or the Paradise Point where you will enjoy astonishing sceneries. The latter is easy to explore on your own if docked at Havensight Cruise Ship Dock.

Long Beach, CA

Not only is it a relatively short drive, it’s a simple one, with the Waterfront Highway directly connecting the two. Havensight Pier is the largest of the two ports, with three main berths along a single pier. Find a representative of the taxi union to agree on a price and get you on a taxi to your destination of the day. The prices above are one way prices, from Havensight cruise dock to destination.
